Fillers (Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra, etc.)
If you are concerned about fine lines and wrinkles or other signs of aging, but are not ready to commit to a face lift, brow lift or other invasive surgical procedure, dermal fillers might be for you. Injectable fillers such as Juvederm®, Sculptra®, and Restylane® can produce dramatic results without surgery and with no downtime. New York area plastic surgeon, Scott Newman MD FACS, can show you what dermal fillers can do for you in a personal consultation.
How Dermal Fillers Can Help You Look Younger
Dermal fillers, which include products like Sculptra, Restylane, Radiesse, and Juvederm, are gels, usually a form of collagen or concentrated hyaluronic acid, that is injected beneath the skin to fill in fine to medium lines and wrinkles, small scars or other types of blemishes. They are most commonly used to fill in crow’s feet, nasolabial folds — the lines between the nose and the corners of the mouth — and lines on the forehead. In some cases, they are also used to make the lips fuller or to change the outline of the nose, chin or cheeks.
Using dermal fillers to reduce signs of aging is sometimes referred to as a non-surgical face lift. The results from dermal fillers can be dramatic, but unlike a face lift, they are not permanent. After a period of time, the fillers are reabsorbed and the effects disappear. This usually takes about six months, but some fillers will last up to a year.
I was very impressed by my experience at Dr. Newman's office. From free initial consultation to final result, the time I spent was well worth it. The results are exactly what I was looking for. It is hard to put faith into a doctor for the first time. I read a lot of reviews online and decided to go with Dr. Newman because of all the good things that I had heard about him. I am very glad that I made the choice to go with Dr. Newman and I recommend him to anyone looking for plastic surgery in the New York City area.
Which Dermal Fillers are Best?
The type of dermal filler considered “best” is based on what your goals are. Some fillers, such as Restylane, are a thicker gel of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid not only fills in links, wrinkles or small scars, but also causes additional moisture to gather in the area, helping the effects last longer. Juvederm, also a hyaluronic acid gel, is likely to last longer than other dermal fillers due to its consistency.
During your consultation with Dr. Newman, you will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the various dermal fillers and which one is likely to provide you with the best, most long-lasting results. Whether the final choice proves to be Sculptra, Restylane or Juvederm, you can be assured that Dr. Newman will provide the best quality treatment and care.
