Ellacor® Non-Surgical Skin Tightening

How Does Ellacor Work?
Ellacor uses micro-coring to remove tiny portions of excess skin (less than half a millimeter in diameter) to stimulate collagen production and cell turnover. This contrasts with laser procedures that deliver thermal injury to prompt rejuvenation. After a section of skin is removed, the device applies suction to remove it from the coring needle.
Ellacor is the first and only FDA-cleared treatment for nonsurgical skin removal. It offers a less invasive alternative to surgery and a more effective alternative to many med spa procedures. No other option on the market can accomplish removal of facial skin without scarring.
The Ellacor micro-coring device is manufactured by Cytrellis and features three very small coring needles. During treatment, the device is moved in a square pattern while the coring needles oscillate. This results in effective and even tissue removal. Anywhere from 6,000 to 12,000 micro-cores may be created.
The treatment is very precise and involves no damage to the surrounding tissues, minimizing recovery time. Because the device creates a grid of treatment zones, healthy skin remains between each micro-core. This healthy adjacent skin aids in the healing process and results in increased skin contraction. The needles are also small enough to prevent scar formation.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Ellacor?
Ellacor is approved for adults over the age of 22 who are not currently pregnant or nursing. You may be a good candidate if you have lax skin and wrinkles on the lower two-thirds of your face. It is safe for most skin types (Fitzpatrick types I to IV). However, additional clinical study is needed to determine whether darker skin types (Fitzpatrick types V and VI) will experience hyperpigmentation after treatment.
You should not have any open wounds or active lesions. In addition, Ellacor may not be appropriate if you have any medical conditions that inhibit skin healing.

What Happens During an Ellacor Treatment?

We administer a local anesthetic to ensure a smooth, comfortable experience during your 30-minute treatment. Clinical patients rated the pain level as a 1 or 2 on a 10-point scale thanks to the numbing agent and precise treatment mechanism. In cases where the treatment is being paired with surgery, it may be administered under general anesthesia.
Ellacor Recovery and Results
Recovery times vary from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the treatment settings and individual healing rates. The Ellacor recovery process is somewhat similar to recovery after CO2 laser resurfacing, but because there is no heat involved, it is a simpler process overall.
Ellacor recovery is relatively painless. Patients often experience redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the treatment sites, but these side effects are typically mild and well-managed.
You may need an initial series of 3 treatments, each spaced around a month apart, before entering the maintenance phase.
