RF Microneedling NYC
RF microneedling therapy is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure used to improve skin texture, firmness, and more. Our Secret RF device uses numerous fine needles to perforate the skin, followed by emission of radiofrequency energy, both of which cause microscopic injuries. The body responds by filling these minute perforations with new collagen and elastin, effectively tightening the skin.
Because it relies on the body’s ability to repair itself, RF microneedling has a host of applications for our Westchester, Long Island, and NYC patients. Arrange a consultation at our Manhattan office, located near restaurants like JoJo by Jean-Georges, Daniel, and The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges.
Dr Newman is so knowledgeable and caring. I would recommend him hands down. I had gone to another place before him and they were disorganized, I walked away. All went well with the surgery and I am happy, feel good in my body now! – Aida – New York City
How Does Microneedling Work?
During the RF microneedling treatments, a handheld, pen-like device is passed over the skin. This device creates up to 1,300 micro punctures per second in the skin while emitting RF energy into the deeper layers. The body produces collagen in response to these injuries, giving the skin a new and healthy feeling. The procedure is practically painless, with only the most intensive sessions requiring some numbing gel.
The body increases collagen production and cell turnover rate in response to the treatment. This results in tighter, smoother, and healthier skin.
Which Skin Issues Can RF Microneedling Address?
Cutera Secret RF radiofrequency microneedling can address a wide variety of skin issues on the face and body. These include:
- Stretch marks
- Scars (including acne scars)
- Drooping skin
- Dullness
- Rough texture
- Fine wrinkles
- Age spots
- Oversized pores
Is RF Microneedling Right for Me?
RF microneedling works well for all skin types. The following options exist for this procedure based on the reason for the treatment:
- Light penetration is mainly used to open up the skin to receive serums. It allows skin products to penetrate the skin instead of waiting for them to be absorbed.
- Medium penetration is used to target sun damage and mild scarring as well as to enhance skin texture and tone.
- Deeper levels of penetration are used to tackle more intense scars, acne and acne scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles.
If you want to smooth away moderate to severe wrinkles and tighten sagging skin, you may also be a good candidate for Ellacor® micro-coring. This innovative treatment uses fine, hollow needles to remove tiny columns of skin on the lower two-thirds of the face, causing your skin to become firmer and more youthful-looking.
Patients who are pregnant or have metal implants will need to discuss this with Dr. Newman. Additionally, patients with a history of keloid scarring or other wound-healing issues will need to discuss this during their consultation. Patients who have had exfoliation treatments in the last three months may not be ideal candidates.
The best way to find out if RF microneedling is right for you is by arranging a consultation. Our NYC office is just a three-minute walk from Madison Avenue’s boutiques, and we’re very close to the Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

How Does RF Microneedling Improve the Effects of Topical Products?
By creating micro-channels in the skin, RF microneedling allows products applied during or immediately after the treatment to penetrate more deeply into the skin tissues. This allows them to be more effective than if applied without treatment. The risk of infection is low, since the micro-channels close up after about an hour.

Does Secret™ RF Microneedling Hurt?
While Secret RF is considered a minimally invasive procedure, discomfort varies with the depth of treatment and the patient’s own pain tolerance. To make it as comfortable as possible, we apply a numbing cream before treatment. Temporary facial redness may be experienced for the first few days after treatment.
Secret RF Microneedling Aftercare
The Secret RF microneedling procedure has a short healing period, since it does not use any heat or chemicals or inflict trauma. Typically, the treatment requires only three to five days of downtime.
There is often a minor degree of swelling in the targeted areas after RF microneedling treatment. Temporary facial redness may be experienced for the first few days after treatment. The area may also be temporarily darker or lighter. These issues are only temporary and will fade in time.
Avoid heavy sun exposure and tanning beds for at least one week after your radiofrequency microneedling treatment, since the skin will be more sensitive. A physical mineral-based broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen must be applied regularly.
How Soon Do RF Microneedling Results Develop?
Results usually appear right after the first treatment. More dramatic results will be seen after 3 to 6 treatments, which are spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart.
How Long Do Secret RF Microneedling Results Last?
Results are long-lasting with the use of sunscreen and avoiding sun exposure. The aging process will continue, so maintenance treatments are needed periodically.
