About This Case
This patient is a 33-year-old woman with severe breast asymmetry. The right breast has all of the characteristics of a larger size: the fold is lower, the nipple is lower, and the areola is larger. The nipple is positioned much more to the side, which is typical. This patient was treated with a breast augmentation on the smaller side and a breast lift on the larger side to match. The patient's surgery was done several years prior. If she presented today, I would give another possible option for correction. The issue is that the breasts may age differently as one breast consists of all-natural tissue over the muscle, and the other consists of some breast tissue over the muscle plus an implant under the muscle. There is reason to believe that symmetry can also be achieved by lifting the larger breast and reducing its size, then using an implant on both sides. In this case, the two sides may age more symmetrically as well.
