Facelift

Aging can take a severe toll on the face, often making us look older than we are. Skin loses elasticity, causing sagging as well as lines and wrinkles in the face and neck. The effects of sun, fatigue and other outside factors can accelerate this process. Fat deposits developing in the face can also create sagging, unattractive skin and an uneven look to the face and neck. Dr. Scott E. Newman performs facelift and neck lift procedures for people from Westchester, Long Island, and NYC, NY, to restore a youthful look, increase self-confidence, and help you look as young as you feel.

Excellent staff, excellent doctor. Dr. Newman was patient and went through all the pros and cons of the surgery for me, MULTIPLE times. The surgery went without a problem. Recovery did not take as long as I expected, in a week the bruising and swelling greatly decreased. During my recovery, I saw Dr. Newman everyday after surgery for over a week, just for him to check on me, and he didn’t mind one bit! Really a great experience and I would recommend him to all my family and friends! Thank you Doctor Newman!

Combining Plastic Surgery Procedures

When treating a complex area such as the face, it is common to combine several plastic surgery procedures in order to achieve the best results. In the case of a facelift, if the face is tightened and given a more youthful appearance but the neck remains sagging and wrinkled, the effect is often less than pleasing. Combining a facelift and a neck lift, then, is more likely to provide the best possible results. Other procedures are often combined with a facelift, as well, including eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), liposuction, or a forehead lift, all of which help reduce signs of aging.

How a Facelift and Neck Lift Are Performed

The facelift and neck lift are usually performed under general anesthesia, with medication administered ahead of time to ensure your relaxation and comfort. You may have a small amount of hair shaved before the operation, usually along the hairline. Depending on how much work must be done and what additional procedures you have opted to have done at the same time, the full surgery could take as long as five hours.

For a facelift, Dr. Newman typically places incisions in the hairline and around the ears. These incisions will be easily hidden by the natural fall of the hair. Incisions in the neck are placed under the chin, and some of the work for the neck lift can also be accomplished through incisions behind the ears, as is the facelift.

During the course of the operation, Dr. Newman tightens the skin of the face and neck, removes excess fatty tissue, and excises excess skin for a smoother, more youthful profile. Within six months after the procedure, you will see the final results as healing is completed, and you can enjoy your new, younger look.
