Pamper Yourself With A Chemical Peel!

chemical peel in NYC

If you are looking for skin-cell regeneration, then a chemical peel is a non-invasive procedure you can undergo. This will remove all the dead-cells from the area where your skin is damaged, allowing new cells to grow. It improves the appearance of the skin, leaving it less wrinkled than the old skin. Chemical peels can be applied to combat the following:

  • Acne scars
  • Aging skin
  • Scars
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Wrinkles

Procedure

The light chemical peel procedure takes around one hour to complete. First of all, the skin in the treatment area is gently cleaned to ensure that maximum results are obtained. Then the solution is applied to the treatment area, where you may feel a gentle tingling sensation. A predetermined time is chosen for the amount of time the solution is applied to your face. It begins to work and will remove the outer layer of your skin, revealing that healthier version from underneath.

By applying the solution, it also speeds up the production of elastin and collagen, which are important components for healthy skin. Once the treatment time is complete, the solution is gently washed from your skin, and a lotion is then applied to complete the procedure. It can take between five and eight sessions to get the desired results.

Aftercare

Since the solution is so light, there is little to no recovery time required, so you can return to your normal life instantly in some cases. You will notice, once the recovery is completed, that your skin will feel smooth and soft, with an improvement in its tone. There may be a little redness and your skin may flake for a while, but this is all part of your skin adapting. You will be asked to use a gentle moisturizing lotion to keep it clean and fresh, while your skin should not be exposed to the sun. You can expect:

  • Superficial peels – Around one to seven days to heal. You may see some redness to begin with, but this will dissipate with the application of cream and moisturizer. Makeup can normally be applied within 24 hours. Mainly used to refresh areas on your neck, face or hands.
  • Medium peels – These require seven to 14 days to heal. Treated skin will show signs of redness and may appear swollen, which will go after 48 hours. You should soak your skin and apply an ointment to help your skin recover. Sun exposure should be avoided. Use this treatment for those wrinkles and fine lines.
  • Deep peels –  Around 14 to 21 days to heal with the skin being bandaged and soaked four to six times a day. Thick moisturizer will assist in the recovery of your skin and exposure to the sun should be avoided. This treatment is usually used to remove heavier lines, scars and even freckles.
